Marco D’Andrea

Diligence and ambition have accompanied him since the beginning of his career. Graduating as the best in his practical training, he first attracted attention as a chef apprentice to Karlheinz Hauser at "Rookie of the Year," initiated by Rolling Pin. The industry reacted, and Joachim Wissler opened the door for him to the patisserie of Vendôme in Bergisch Gladbach. Individuality, self-confidence, and a good instinct led him back to the origin of his career. He took off as Chef Pâtissier with Karlheinz Hauser at Süllberg. As a multitasking talent, he amazed both the jury and the audience at the Young Wild Ones Challenge with his creations and ultimately won the title of Young Wild One 2012. After successful excursions into the broad spectrum of cuisine, he has since focused again on his true love - patisserie.

The crowning glory in the series of awards came at the beginning of November 2014 at the LEADERS OF THE YEAR Gala Germany in BMW Welt Munich. Rolling Pin commented: "The finalist in the sweetest category of LEADERS OF THE YEAR is characterized by extreme precision and inventiveness, elevating the old and delightful art of patisserie to a new level."

Making guests happy is the goal. Chef Pâtissier Marco D’Andrea and Sous Chef Pâtissier Mike Kainz jointly develop the desserts for the gourmet restaurant "Lakeside". The creation of new, exciting desserts is a process that sometimes only fully unfolds in their playful interaction. Both have very clear ideas: they combine all taste senses and focus on the products that Mother Nature provides. They prefer working with chocolate and always try to serve it as elegantly as possible, close to the salt content, and always with a hint of acidity. "Together as a team, we create our own magic moments for our guests."

Lakeside
2 Michelin Stars

As soon as you exit the elevator on the 7th floor of the impressive "The Fontenay" hotel, you enter a restaurant that is second to none: a space filled with light and air, presented in elegant, white clarity, offering breathtaking views over the city and the Outer Alster. Julian Stowasser celebrates modern culinary art here, served in a four- to six-course menu. The dishes are characterized by their complexity without being overpowering; the ingredients are first-class, the craftsmanship precise. The service team around Michel Buder acts professionally and relaxed, is well-rehearsed and excellently coordinated - with Sommelière Stefanie Hehn providing excellent wine recommendations. A stylish aperitif in the chic bar on the 6th floor, followed by an ascent via the elegantly curved staircase, completes the experience and leads up to the restaurant.
