Resharpening Service outside the EU
Important: Shipping from non-EU countries to the EU is unfortunately a bit more complicated and time-consuming. If you follow the points below, your shipment will be delivered safely.
1) Select shipping method – Sender covers duties
-
Preferred: DHL Express with "DTP – Duties & Taxes Paid" (duties at your expense).
-
Alternatives: UPS/FedEx with "DDP – Delivered Duty Paid" (duties at your expense).
-
Important: Do not select "Duties to be paid by recipient" / "Bill to receiver".
2) Declare customs correctly
-
Purpose: "Repair & Return / Resharpening – Return to sender".
-
Attach customs documents externally:
-
For postal shipments: CN22/CN23 + commercial or proforma invoice in the external document pouch.
-
For express shipments: Use Paperless Trade; if not available, include 3 copies of the invoice externally.
-
-
HS code (commodity code): Knives typically HS 8211 (e.g., kitchen knives with fixed blade).
-
Value declaration: State realistic merchandise value for customs purposes only (not "gift/0 €"). We will charge the sharpening fee separately to you.
3) Mandatory information on the invoice (example)
-
Description: "Used kitchen knife, steel, HS 8211, resharpening/after-service, return to sender, no sale".
-
Quantity and weight.
-
Value and currency (CHF/EUR) for customs purposes.
-
Origin (if known).
-
Incoterm: DDP Solingen or "Duties & Taxes Paid by Shipper (DHL DTP)".
4) Packaging & Contents
-
Protect the blade safely, pack the knife shock-proof.
-
Include in the package: Your contact details and our order number (or RMA).
5) What we do not accept
-
Shipments with cash on delivery.
-
Shipments with unpaid customs/taxes or with "duties to be paid by recipient".
-
Such shipments will be returned to you or cause delays.
